karlite

Whether you are looking for a refined, understated surface or something more striking, Karlite solid surface sheets offer a versatile foundation for a wide range of architectural and design applications. Each panel is produced at 1000 × 1000 mm in a solid 19 mm thickness, with the option of a recyclable scratch-resistant coating for added durability. Unlike many other recycled plastics, Karlite’s polycarbonate base naturally carries flame-retardant properties, making it a safe and reliable choice for interiors and beyond.

Karlite is made from recycled industrial plastic waste that is shredded into granules and pressed into new form. Once engineered for clarity and endurance as car headlights, polycarbonate now finds renewed purpose as a solid surface material. Every sheet is 100% recycled and fully recyclable, with subtle variations in pattern and tone that we consider its signature.

how to work it

properties

fully recyclable

Karlite is made from 100% recycled polycarbonate and can be reprocessed at the end of its life, ensuring it remains part of a truly circular material cycle.

fire
resistance

Polycarbonate carries natural flame-retardant properties, offering greater safety compared to many other recycled plastics.

heat
stability

Karlite remains stable up to around 120 °C, making it well suited for kitchens and everyday use, including contact with hot water.

UV resistance

Uncoated polycarbonate sheets typically last 5–7 years outdoors before showing signs of yellowing. With a UV-protective coating, up to 10–15 years.

suitable for wet areas

Non-porous and highly resistant to moisture, Karlite is an excellent choice for kitchens, bathrooms, and other environments where water is present.
